10-minute DIY fabric headbands!

Last night around 10:30, I got the insatiable urge to craft. These headbands, in particular. I saw them on pinterest a few weeks ago, and couldn't get them out of my head. I'm, uh, kind of obsessed with headbands. I have more than I could ever wear in my entire life, and yet I continue to buy them, and make them, and grow them on a tree in my backyard. (kidding. mostly.)

Anyways, I digress. Although I thought it was a bit late for crafting, I grabbed my trusty hot glue gun, some fabric scraps, and a few boring, ugly headbands. In literally TEN minutes (not kidding, because I was definitely snuggled up in my bed in my PJs twenty minutes later. Just call me grandma.) I had one fabulously easy, super-cute fabric-wrapped headband.

The website linked above gives a pretty great tutorial, but basically what I did was this: cut a long, thin fabric strip (mine was cotton, but I think any fabric would work) about 4x the length of the headband, and alternate putting a few inches of glue on the headband & wrapping, glue & wrap, and so on and so forth. Once that was finished, I braided a fabric strip about 1in. longer than my headband, and knotted the ends as flatly as I could. Glued it on, and voila!

In action:

Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if all of my boring, basic headbands got the braided fabric treatment this week. SO easy and so cute-- good thing I have enough headbands to DIY for an army :)

  1. What a cute DIY project! I may have to try this before summer is over.

So glad you liked Sisterhood! If it hadn't been for my mom, I would have never known there was a 5th book. I was sad, but I loved the ending. It was the perfect to wrap up the series. Once I finish my 50 book challenge, I want to go back and reread it. I hate that it's over!

  2. Yay, yay, yay! I'm so happy for you and for this new blog Mary! It's so exciting to see you starting this wonderful new chapter of your life and a beautiful little spot to do at,too! xx
