it's too. darn. hot.

As much as I don't want to be that girl who complains about the weather...

I can't help it. It's hot. Reeeeally hot. I think I've finally accepted how un-style-blogger-y I get in the summer and made my peace with it.

Okay, phew. Whining = out of my system.

tee: ON, spring 11; skirt: gap, summer 10; sandals: target, summer 10

On a completely unrelated note: I am kind of bored with my closet. I know, I know, cry me a river. But still. I'm been itching for a good sale-rack-hunting/thrifting trip lately, and it's kind of getting to the point where it's not even an option anymore-- I have to do something before I go crazy with a box of rit dye and turn all my clothes bright pink (at least it would be something new?) As far as my shopping habits go, I have it down to a slightly strange science. I tend to go once or twice a season and stock up on a few essentials and a trendy piece or two, and then the rest of the year piece-shop as needed or make a thrifting trip. I've been feeling more than ever lately that it's time to do a good closet clean out and in return bring some new, inspiring pieces back into my wardrobe.

I'm super curious: what do you do when you get bored of your closet? Shop, remix, etc? What's your secret?

  1. It is SO hot. I can't stand it.

When I get bored with my closet, I usually just buy more, which is kind of a problem now that I have an overflowing closet. Remixing is good, too - it's actually something I've gotten a lot better at this summer, like finding an outfit that's extremely light-weight that I can still wear to work.

I do have a lot of clothes that I need to get rid of, and I'm trying to figure out what I want to do. Most of them are either never worn or only worn a few times, so I'd like to try to sell them for cheap, either on my blog (like LuluLetty) or on Smashion (like WWANW just did) or in some other way. Trying to steer clear of eBay, but who knows?

  2. Oh man, I am the worst complainer about the weather ever! SF has such a different Summer than LA or DC (where I grew up), and i just cannot get used to it hardly ever being HOT. I miss it.

    Cry me a river, right?

As for you, this outfit is perfect hot weather wear... and thus you retain your amazing style blogger status fo sho :)

Finally, when I'm bored bored bored, I tend to go thrifting... in a huge way. Grab everything that catches my eye and try everything on. The creative process of trying stuff on and thinking about how things might fit in with my clothes makes me feel great! Then I buy the items I feel have the most potential. Since I go to a truly thrifty thrift store, my goods are hardly ever over $5, so I end up with a slew of new-to-me pieces that don't break the bank!

BTW, maybe you could sell the stuff you clear out of your closet on your blog? Or trade some things? I know I'd be interested in checking out your goods!

  3. Argh, I know EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL! I mean, I don't want to complain about the heat because obviously it's summer and it's going to be hot, but it's so draining. When it's over 100 degrees I think we have the right to complain ;)

And I'm horribly bored with my closet at the moment, too! Hopefully we both get out of these awful ruts.❤
