Okay, so. Confession time. I've been wearing the same basic combos of tee + skirt/ tee + shorts/ dress + sandals for this entire summer. And I've been able to make it seem like I haven't been because, well, I haven't posted an outfit photo in approximately eleventy three years. Oops.
I feel so blah about summer dressing sometimes. Is anyone with me? I get that way in winter as well, of course. When I'm too restricted by weathery parameters, I get a little boring in the clothing department. So with that said, I'm trying to make a conscious effort to be less of a bummer when it comes to facing my closet.
Step one: stop whining about it. Okay, done. :)
Step two: remember you're trying to save money, so you talk yourself out of going shopping. Blerg, done.
Step three: accessorize with fabulous jewelry. Done and done.
I won this fantastic magpie necklace in my internet twin Bailey's giveaway a few weeks ago, and I've pretty much been wearing it with my boring ole' clothes since the day it arrived in my mailbox. Aand I'm a giant slacker and haven't told you about it until now. Bailey's been one of my favorite bloggers for a long time (and we just happen to be remarkably similar in every way, hence: internet twins.) and she recently opened up a gorgey Etsy shop filled with fabulous goodies like this necklace + tons of super cute other handmade jewelry. If you're in a boring summer clothing rut like moi, I highly recommend you check it out :)
Honestly, I think what it comes down to is that I always forget that effortless summer dressing does not come without effort, after all. Just because it's hot outside doesn't mean that I can stop planning and coordinating my outfits and expect them to come together in the blink of an eye. And just because I want to wear the same long flowy sundress all summer and hire a personal fan-waver to follow me everywhere I go doesn't mean I can.
A girl can dream, though, right?
